Marker flags are part of the EcoPeace Treaty agreement with the deer. They are NOT repellents; they are simply markers to show the deer where the people prefer that they not eat.

2013 EcoPeace Treaty with Roses and Deer, Rumson, NJ

There are 550+ rose bushes on this Rumson, NJ, estate.

Deer love to eat the tiny rose buds.  We think it’s like candy to them.

May 28, 2013: Dr. Jim Conroy mediated an EcoPeace Treaty between the deer and the rose bushes…

In a similar way to the EcoPeace Treaty at the EcoLiteracy Center between the deer and the vegetable gardens, he offered the use of the green utility flags to mark the areas that the people were asking the deer to avoid.

June 17, 2013: Note the deer footprints in the mulch, but no rose buds, blossoms, or foliage was eaten.

Jason took this series of photos with his smart phone 3 days after the EcoPeace Treaty was made. The arrow points to disease showing up only on the "collar" and not on the green.

Jason, the superintendent of a golf course in West Virginia, asked Dr. Jim Conroy to help the trees and the greens on the course.  Jason is a forward-thinking innovator in his field and wants to put to work the latest approaches and technologies.

He does his best to use organic approaches whenever possible on the golf course.  He feels that his protecting his members and the environment by doing so. Without using any products, Dr. Jim Conroy accomplishes the rejuvenation of the health of trees and whole ecosystems.

Jason’s first concern was the disease on the 3rd green.  He and Dr. Jim Conroy consulted.

The EcoPeace Treaty that Dr. Jim mediated between the grasses and the disease organisms resulted in an immediate success.

Jason sent photos just three days later showing that the disease was ONLY on the collar of the green, not on the green itself.
